hey s'up?

I've seen some fantastic cards on Pinterest lately featuring the

masking/misting technique. I made my own mists using some

small spray bottles with about 30 drops of Stampin up

re-inker and filled them up with about 20ml water

(for this card I used calypso coral and crushed curry).

You can experiment with the strength just adding more water

if you want a lighter colour and more re-inker for a darker colour.

I used a Prima mask but Stampin Up has just realased some great

masks in their new catty.

You simply place the mask on some  whisper white cardstock

(taping in place for security if you wish) and spray one colour at the top

and the other colour at the bottom. To finish it off I embossed a sentiment

from the Hi There stamp set in white onto calyso coral card stock and used

some vellum, white thread and gold sequins.

and hello

So I've been playing around with gesso a bit lately and as you know

I love to add texture and different mediums and layers

to my cards so this card has a bit of everything!

The base is from the new DSP set

Gold Soiree which is definitely my new favorite DSP.

The papers are so shiny and smooth and the colours are divine!

I embossed this with the ampersand embossing

powder and applied some layers of gesso using an old ID card

and placed 4 gold sequins on randomly.

To get some extra height I used a rectangle piece of

cardboard from one of the stampin up boxes my deliveries came in,

a practise I might use more frequently instead of Stampin dimensionals.

I used a piece of paper cut from

an old book with a layer of gold glimmer paper and

some vellum with the embossed 'hello' from the "Hi there" set.

I painted the top of a clothespin with gesso to get a white look

and tucked a strip of gold sequin trim and a piece of pink ribbon

i had at home under the clothespin.

Vellum pocket

A customer recently asked me make a pastel gift set for her. I'm a bit

obsessed with vellum at the moment so I decided to make a big

vellum envelope to hold them all. I love the pastel colours of the sweet

sorbet  DSP from the latest salebration catalogue.

I combined a mixture of the sweet sorbet DSP, pages from an old book and

vellum to create these cards as well as white embossing powder (I'm also a

bit obsessed with embossing everything white!)

I've also recently discovered gesso. I used it on the above layout. Once

sticking a page I ripped out of an old book I picked up some gesso on an old

ID card to run down the page a couple times. I love the effect it creates by

totally lighting up the card.

Boys Will be Boys

Happy birthday to my dear 5 year old boy! I can't believe my oldest baby is 5!

Life is going super fast as always and today we are celebrating a very special day. Micah's favorite toy at the moment is lego so I was super excited when Stampin Up released the 'Boys will Be Boys' featuring this lego stamp. Find it in my store at http://www3.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=134138

I hope to post some more cards I've been working on recently so stay tuned for some more exciting designs coming your way very soon!

sympathy and prayers

At the moment I'm having a break from running classes and one of the things I'm loving the most is freedom to have time to  sit down and create a specific card for a specific person for a specific event that is happening in their life. This card was for a friend who was walking through a very dark time in her life but was absolutely shining despite her situation. I wanted to encourage her to keep trusting in God and to keep giving Him her burdens.

The base of this card is crisp cantaloupe.  On top of it I used a layer of whisper white card stock that I have given a small spray of silver Mr huey mist.  On a separate piece of whisper white I stamped some flowers from the set 'simple stems' in crisp cantaloupe and coastal cabana and cut them out. I layered them on the left hand side of the page slightly raised with Stampin dimensionals.  I placed a small piece of pink ribbon I had at home and finished it off with a piece of crisp cantaloupe twine (saleabration) tied in a double knot and added a wooden clothespin.

The sentiment was stamped in black stayz on ink in the bottom right hand corner.  This sentiment was from the set 'Trust God'.

birthday wishes

Looking at this card makes me happy because it reminds me of summer & I do love summer! Today we loaded up our car and took our kids to the beach and went for a long bike ride along the esplanade. We just soaked up the beautiful scenery and warm sun, making the most of these few warm days left before the coolness of autumn sets in. The kids loved sitting on the pier to eat fish and chips and it was so lovely to share this family time together!

To make this card I started off with a crisp cantaloupe card base. On top of that I've used a piece of watercolour wonder dsp. I've then layered a piece of gold fancy foil designer vellum (love heart).

For my sentiment I've used a piece of crisp cantaloupe card and embossed the happy birthday from the set 'another great year' in white embossing powder. I used a spongue dauber and some crisp cantaloupe ink to darken the centre of the sentiment just to make it stand out a little more.  I tied I piece of gold baker's twine around the card twice and tied it off with a bow and placed a gold mini metallic clothespin in place.  I also placed a couple random sequins on the layout from the gold sequin trim. I hope I've inspired you with this happy happy birthday card!

Happy clouds

I absolutely love the new saleabration stamp set 'see ya later.' It's incredibly versatile and always looks great on card layouts.

The base of this card is coastal cabana card stock.  On top of this I've laid a piece of star fruit card stock. On top of the summer star fruit is a piece of whisper white with a cloud cut out using one of the word bubble framelit dies. I've used a piece of window sheeting that I've stuck on the back of the white card stock and behind it is a piece of dsp from the 'high tide' dsp set. I've also stuck some gold sequins from the gold sequin trim on top of the dsp.  I've stamped some 'rain' in coastal cabana ink on the bottom right hand side of the cloud using the dots from the 'happy watercolour' set.  I've stamped the sentiment from the 'see ya later' set in stayz on black ink. I've used the '&' from 'hello, lovely' and stamped that in coastal cabana just overlapping the sentiment on the left hand side. Also overlapping the sentiment I've stamped lines in summer star fruit from the 'gorgeous grunge' set.

For the final embellishing touches I've used a strip of gold fancy foil designer vellum, a gold mini metallic clothespin and a small piece of gold sequin trim. I hope it brightens your day!

So happy

The colours in this card make me so happy!

The base of this layout is from the watercolour wonder dsp. I then cut a piece of calypso coral card stock measuring 1 x 5.5 inches and spritzed it with some white spray.  I placed this on top of a piece of gold fancy foil designer vellum measuring 2x5 inches. On top of this is a piece of whisper white card stock that I have cut using the Deco labels collection die. On this piece of card I stamped the happy watercolour paint splash in calypso coal and then the sentiment in stayz on black ink in the centre of the paint splash and the flower I stamped twice on the right hand side just hanging over the page. Using my blender pens I coloured the flower with crushed curry with a darker colour in the middle working to a lighter for the outer petals.

I finished the layout off with a small yellow bow using some summer star fruit twine and adding some gold sequins from the gold sequin trim which is a very cheap way of embellishing your cards!

Buggies & booties

I'm going to make a massive call here but I think I've just discovered my favorite all time Stampin' Up! stamp set! Buggies & Booties is no longer a current set, infact it's almost 10 years old but I managed to get my hands on it second hand.  I've loved creating some cards with it and I thought I'd share them with you!

Love

This was a recent card we made in one of my classes incorporating the new circle framelit die. It's quite a simple card but looks effective with the layers used.  The base card is starfuit and measures 15x 13 3/4cm. I cut a strip of summer starfruit and crisp cantaloupe dsp from the new saleabration dsp measuring 2.5cmx 13 3/4cm (summer starfruit) and 7.5cm x 13 3/4cm (crisp cantaloupe) and stuck these pieces in place on the base and ran it through the bigshot using the circle framelit die.
I cut two small circles of whisper white card using the coordinating circle from the circles collection framelit and two more circles of crisp cantaloupe using the 6.4cm circle punch. One white circle I embossed with bird from the 'love you more' set in white and on the other circle I embossed the 'love you more sentiment' in white. Using my sponges I started sponging with summer starfuit in the middle of each circle and worked my way out to the edges using crisp cantaloupe.  I sprayed over each with some white mist spray and layered them on the card.
Lastly I finished the card off with a white double bow.

Better late than never!

This past month has been incredibly stressful with a combination of moving house and renovating our new house. I feel I'm struggling to keep on top of anything thus why I'm a day late posting my valentines card... but hey as they say....better late than never!

This crisp cantaloupe card has been embossed with the beautifully baroque embossing folder and rubbed with white ink using a spongue.  It has a strip of vellum I have stamped with a dot background stamp (non stampin up) with versamark, sprinkled with heat and stick powder and then gold embossing powder.  On top is a piece of crisp cantaloupe stamped with the new flowerful heart and embossed in white.  I have sponged over this with crisp cantaloupe to make it stand out a little more.  I have stuck this on a piece of gold foil card and lastly  embossed another a strip of gold foil card with the sentiment always and forever in white.  This sentiment is from the set 'this day forward.'

Happy valentines day everyone!

saleabration birthday

I love how this tag turned out! The layer upon layer gives it a lot of texture. Firstly I took a rectangular piece of crumb cake card and cut the two top corners off to form a tag. I stamped the dictionary stamp lightly with crumb cake ink on the cardstock. Next I used the ex libris stamp and crisp cantaloupe ink. I used the gorgeous grunge set to randomly stamp ink splatters in crumb cake ink. I sponged the edges with crumb cake and sprayed the entire tag with white spray and finally stamped the birthday stamp from the new salebration set. I punched a hole in the top of the card and threaded through a piece of hessian ribbon and tied it off with a piece of crisp cantaloupe twine (also saleabration)

grey skies

How cool are the little clouds and sun in this layout?! They are made using the new word bubbles framelit dies.  The sun is made using the new starburst framelit dies.  They can both be found in the new celebration catty that begins at the end of this month!

Products used:
Stamp sets: hardwood, see ya later
Cardstock: whisper white, bermuda Bay, summer starfruit, Smokey slate, silver fancy foil designer
Accessories: summer starfruit striped grosgrain ribbon, mini metallic clothes pins, summer starfruit twine

Sweet baby

Today I got to have a play with a new set from the celebration catty.  Firstly I stamped the owl image from the 'Baby,  we've grown' stamp set in staz in black ink. I used my aqua painters to colour it in.  The inks I used were summer starfruit, gumball green, smoky slate and crisp cantaloupe. I layered this image on a piece of so saffron card.

I stamped the sweet baby image in versamark ink and embossed it using white embossing powder and sprayed the image with some white spray. I tied a double bow using so saffron ribbon and stuck a safety pin I had lying around through the middle of it.  Lastly the background dsp I used is from the new set 'watercolour wonder'.

playing with the celebration catty

I am so excited about the new celebration catalogue. As demonstrators we have been privileged to play with products a month earlier than they are available to the public. My pre-order arrived yesterday and I excitedly sat down to make my first card today. The base of this card the made with the new 'Hardwood' stamped on whisper white cardstock with crumb cake ink. I sponged the edges and used the good old gorgeous grunge to add some texture. I stamped 3 feathers from 'fine feathers' in versa mark and embossed them with white embossing powder and sponged over the top of them in crisp cantaloupe ink. I then sprayed it with some white spray and sponged the edges white ink and stuck it on a larger piece of crisp cantaloupe cardstock.

I embossed the sentiment from 'a dozen thoughts' in white embossing powder on baked brown sugar cardstock and sponged the edges with white ink. I used the sticky strip to attach a piece of the new gold sequin trim and under that I used a strip of the natural chevron ribbon. At the top of the card I used a new metallic mini clothes pin (gold) and on top of that I placed a double bow using the new gold bakers twine (the gold part I detached and placed under the crisp cantaloupe card).

Punch Board gift box with cards

I'm going to make a massive call here but I believe the Envelope Punch Board is one of Stampin Up's most affordable and versitile products. At only $31.95 you can make 66 different size envelopes and an unlimited number of boxes and projects.  I've been seeing 100's of ideas popping up on pinterest over the last few months!

The project I am featuring here is also a class I'm running this month.  It features the Sweet Sorbet dsp that is available to demonstrators only this month and to everyone else during  saleabration beginning January 28th. The few products this year are divine!

This gift box uses a piece of card 8x8 inches and fits 3 4x4 cards and 3 vellum envelopes.  The box is scored on the 3.5 inch mark and then again on the 4.5 inch mark on all four edges. I have rounded the edges and glued it together and then embellished it as seen.

For the vellum envelopes I have used a piece of vellum measuring 6 7/8 x 6 7/8 and scored it at the 3.5 inch mark.
